Preventing Stress Setback in your Management Plan
Stress is a part of life and you have learned how to plan for what stressors are likely to hit right? Well, you are doing well to have a stress management plan, but setback can and do happen in life and you must be prepared for them to happen.
You can set up strategies to handle setback by simplifying your life, managing time, being organized, being prepared for anything, exercise on a daily basis, eat nutritious meals, adjust your attitude to one of being positive in thought and action, and take frequent breaks even if they are short.
You can also relax using relaxation techniques even while you are working by doing deep breathing. Learn to use humor to your advantage and let go of all unnecessary tasks.
Setbacks are just as inevitable as stress is in life so don't sweat the small stuff and learn to take life as it comes. This is not always easy to do but it must be done or stress will creep back into your life in ways that will make you unhappy.
New stressors are one-way setback can occur so be watchful for them. Check your responses to new and old stressors to be sure you are following your plan. Monitor your stress management plan and revise it like you change your batteries in your smoke alarm.
Realize that when setbacks occur that others get them too and you are not alone. Keep track of any changes in your life and be ready for the possibility of setback occurring.
Make sure that you are saying no to activities and chores that are unnecessary or that will put you off schedule... do not say yes when you know you do not have the time to accomplish the chore.
Have a to-do list for every day and use it. Do priorities first and other chores if you have the time.
Adjust your attitude as you go about your day if you notice that it is slipping into the negative zone. You may have to get out those relaxation techniques to do this.
Take responsibility for your words and actions because when you don't they have a nasty way of coming back to haunt you as a setback.
Be smart about handling stress by taking stock of your emotions and mental state on a daily basis. If you feel that stress is making a power play then there may be a setback in your future so take charge now, don’t wait.
