Tucks, the popular commercial brand pads, contain witch hazel and are easy and convenient to use. Other topical agents you can use to provide comfort from redness, swelling and itching include aloe Vera gel and petroleum jelly.

Cold compresses or ice packs may also help to treat hemorrhoid-related discomfort. Their cooling effects will provide a temporary respite from the pain and inflammation of hemorrhoids.
