Positive thinking is a great tool to help acid reflux and indigestion sufferers. If it is used in the right circumstances, in the right way and at the right time it can be a great benefit. There are nine steps to take to use positive thinking for yourself.

The first step is to make sure you know what your goal is. Clearly define your purpose, which in this case would be your acid reflux and indigestion symptoms. Do not complicate the process by have several purposes at once. This is the most important key in positive thinking because you cannot accomplish anything without a goal in mind.

Second is to tell yourself what to do. Take a step back from the situation and tell yourself what you need to do. Through gentle and confident commands, tell yourself what you need to do to reach your goal. Use the right tone of voice when telling yourself what to do.

The third step is to give yourself advice. Look at your condition from the angle that you might see if a friend of yours had your condition. Then advise yourself the way you would advise your friend. Reassure yourself and use good common sense, be gentle and kind. Always follow your best advice.

Fourth is to give yourself encouragement. This is having a belief in yourself to accomplish your goals. Do not become enthusiastic when encouraging yourself, be genuine and sincere like you would if you were talking with your best friend and giving them the same encouragement.

Fifth is to provide yourself with reasons. Always keep in mind the reasons why you need to overcome your specific obstacle. Keep in mind all your past success so you know you are making advancements. Periodically remind yourself of what your strengths are so you don’t become discouraged. It is best to think of why you really want to reach your goal. If you have to think up new reasons every once in awhile to have a fresh perspective, do it. If you have good reason, you will be able to motivate yourself and strength your determination and resolve to reach your goal.

The sixth step is to aim for your favorite positive emotion. Have a positive attitude, be cheerful and enthusiastic. However, do not use forced or phony positive attitudes. The best attitude is love, which has a very positive effect that changed your whole state of mind. Determination is another emotion to aim for. If you aim for cheerfulness, you will end up showing positive attitude but you will have a negative feeling of phoniness.

Seventh is to try anti-negativity. You should get rid of the negative, self-defeating thinking. This is when you find fault in your assumptions. Attack these negative thoughts so you can gain a neutral ground before moving on to positive feelings.

The eighth step is to keep it simple. Always use short sentences that are to the point and directed at a specific action or bearing.

The final step is to repeat what works. As you develop good positive thinking skills you will notice you use certain processes or activities more often. Use these processes as much as possible.

Many may think positive thinking doesn’t work, but if you try it for yourself, you may end up changing your mind. Through positive thinking, you can overcome anything including acid reflux and indigestion.
